They need the money or decided the money was important enough that they are willing to what they do. That doesn't mean that guys taking advantage of that is the right thing to do. Both the dancer and her off the job date are examples of
the fact that people tend to defend what they have been accustomed to do or believe, right or wrong. Science describe the solar system as too big for a man to have made, but even people who accept science INSIST that the world was created by a God that man made in his own image. Criminals are not stupid, but they defend what they do by continuing to do it. As a nation we are the same way, we are smart enoug to know that by occupying Iraq we attract the insurgent Arabs whom we call "terrorist", be at home even democrats like Reid insist that we must "stay the course" -- it's called "group think", once committed to prejudice and aware that others in your group are so committed, it is hard to quit, even if it is wrong and doesn't pay.
